If you are a so-called "Tran Fan" buy this. I have traveled throughout the country since retirement on Amtrak, crossing many destinations off my "bucket list." I found this book to be accurately descriptive of the system that was "designed to fail."
This book contains a lot of information that anyone looking for historical information will enjoy. It is well written and the author obviously knows his subject. I gave it four stars because I would have liked a little more information on the locomotives than was in the book.
I bought 2 of these books and enjoyed them while traveling the Coast Starlight and Calif Zephyr to Nebraska. They provided a great briefing of passenger travel in America, and to share with other passengers. I left them with my nephew to encourage him to take a trip!
My brother was wanting this book and really enjoys reading it!! It was definitely on his wish list and I know he already enjoys reading it!!
i was impress but it could have been better. i wish the had more brochures and stuff but can't win them all.
Great book on the history of Amtrak. A must have for all Amtrak fans. Very well illustrated and many time pictures.
