This book is geared for vineyard growth and assumes the reader knows more than a beginner could possibly know. No illustrations to let one know the difference between a spur and shoot or how to train or prune.

I wish I could be a grape grower as a career and a wine maker. That would be something I could really devote myself to. This book about grape growing tells what you need to know in a comprehensive and yet simple to understand way. It's like the kind of notes you'd make for yourself if you thoroughly learned a subject and wanted the information handy.

Very informative and a good guide for beginners..

Don't bother... This is a very general book cranked out by a guy that writes books on stuff like astral projection and health food fads ... It's also extremely short... Lots of triple spaced lists and white space and empty pages... Not worth the money to ship it...

I love this book, and I can’t wait to grow grapes in my own garden. When we lived in Oregon, I spent a lot of time growing all sorts of healthy foods such as potatoes, tomatoes, strawberries, watermelon and more. I’ve always wanted to enjoy a bountiful garden full of various grape varieties. “Grape Growing” by Bowe Packer answered all of my questions and more. This book is perfect for beginners and seasoned gardeners or even small farmers.The author covers everything from A to Z and his writing style is engaging and informative. I especially like the section about preserving roots and organic farming. Bowe also goes into detail about how to care for your grapes as the weather changes. You’ll find specific guidelines for March pruning and more. I plan to buy the paperback edition right before we move back to the Northwest. I can’t wait to get back into gardening!

My wife bought this book for me because I am planning a small vineyard. This book is NOT for beginner's. The author assumes the reader knows WAY too much about the process of growing grapes and the jargon associated with it. One example is that the section on installing the trellis does not mention anything about what gauge wire you should use, how many levels of wire in one row, that it needs to be galvanized wire, or the spacing of posts in a row. There are no illustrations or supporting photos. I found much better information with photos and illustrations from a quick search of the internet.

Great book, lots of knowledge, I didn’t like the beginning of the book seemed they try to discourage you but the information in the book is great for anyone growing grapes in Texas
